ADVISORY
Press Conference on “Cosmo Harms Minors” Campaign
Victoria Hearst Takes On Hearst Corporation’s Cosmopolitan Magazine
WHO: Victoria Hearst, the granddaughter of publisher William Randolph Hearst of the Hearst Corporation empire and the Founder and President of Praise Him Ministries in Montrose, CO; Dawn Hawkins, Executive Director, National Center on Sexual Exploitation; Dr. Miriam Grossman, MD, board certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist.
WHAT: Press conference to launch “Cosmo Harms Minors” campaign and to release results from national survey on Cosmopolitan Magazine and minors. Coalition demands that Cosmopolitan Magazine be displayed behind blinders or in a wrapper and not sold to minors.
WHEN: Wednesday, April 22, 2015
TIME: 10:00am EST; light breakfast and coffee served at 9:00am EST
WHERE: National Press Club, Lisagor Room, 529 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20045
WHY: In recent years, Cosmopolitan Magazine has blatantly started to target young girls to expand their audience and increase profits. This staple of the supermarket checkout line has steadily declined from a somewhat inspirational women’s magazine to a verbally, and many times visually, pornographic “how-to” sex guide encouraging readers to engage in violent and dangerous sexual acts in every issue.
Cosmo is leading the way in further desensitizing young women and girls to accept and participate in the pornified and sexually violent culture around them. The “Cosmo Harms Minors” campaign seeks to inform, expose and equip communities to take action and protect minors.
About Victoria Hearst
Victoria Hearst, daughter of Randolph A. Hearst, is spearheading a campaign called “COSMO Harms Minors” (cosmoharmsminors.com). COSMO is the nickname for Cosmopolitan Magazine, published by her family’s company, the Hearst Corporation. COSMO’s content is sexually explicit and currently available for minors to purchase. Miss Hearst formed Praise Him Ministries in 2001, which includes Praise Productions Christian Store and Ridgway Christian Center. Miss Hearst is a passionate advocate for Israel and the Jewish people, having worked alongside Mayor Ron Nachman of the city of Ariel on projects in Judea and Samaria. Victoria also assists the Jews of Gush Katif who lost their homes and livelihoods when exiled from Gaza in 2005. Victoria sits on the board of Billye Brim Ministry/Prayer Mountain in the Ozarks and Operation Blessing Japan.
About National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCSE)

The organization changed its name to the National Center on Sexual Exploitation early in 2015 to better describe the scope and mission to expose the seamless connection between all forms of sexual exploitation.
